Guwahati/IBNS: The last rites of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will be performed on November 26 in Guwahati and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to attend the funeral service, said a senior Congress leader.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora said Rahul Gandhi is likely to attend the last rites of Tarun Gogoi.

Tarun Gogoi – the longest serving Chief Minister of Assam – breathed his last at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Monday evening.

“Rahul Gandhi is likely to attend the veteran Congressman's funeral. His office is in touch with us and 2-3 more General Secretaries of AICC – Jitendra Singh and KC Venugopal, are also likely to attend the last rites of the greatest leader,” Ripun Bora said.

On Tuesday, thousands of Congress leaders and the party workers had paid their last respects to the mortal remains of the former Assam Chief Minister at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati.
