11 persons dressed in army uniform arrested in Guwahati

Guwahati/IBNS: 11 persons dressed in army uniform were arrested by police near Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati on Monday night.

Police have also recovered one four wheeler vehicle, five motorcycles, fake identity cards of Indian army and other items in possession from them.

According to the reports, the arrested 11 persons were seen in army uniform near the airport and some locals suspected them for their movements and they immediately informed police

Later, a police team of Azara police station reached the area and caught the gang.

Guwahati city police Joint Commissioner Debraj Upadhyay said that, police have arrested 11 persons who had illegally dressed up as army personnel.

“They were living in this area in past one month. We suspect that, they are involved in some illegal activities. Our investigation is on. We have recovered fake identity cards of Indian army in possession from them,” the top police official said.

The arrested persons were identified as Ganesh Das, Sourav Sarma, Dhiman Krishna, Joymoni Sarma, Nayanjyoti Gautam, Bijaymoni Sarma, Dwijen Sarma, Ripunjay Goswami, Rupam Sarma, Gyanenda Das and Kaushik Bhuyan.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Azara police station and police interrogation is going on.
