Guwahati/IBNS: Ahead of the assembly poll in Assam which is scheduled in April next year, the ruling party BJP is gearing up for the polls and trying to build up its strength.

A top leader of the saffron party said that two sitting MLAs of Congress including a former minister in Tarun Gogoi’s government would likely join BJP soon.

“Two sitting MLAs of Congress party have contacted the leadership of BJP and wished to join our party. Both MLAs are from Upper Assam and one among them is a former minister and another is belonging to the tea tribe community,” the top BJP leader said.

The BJP leader also hinted that, few other Congress MLAs are also in touch with BJP and many of them would likely to join BJP before assembly elections.

Recently, BPF MP Biswajit Daimary has resigned from the working president post of the party and announced that he will join BJP.

Apart from Biswajit Daimary, another BPF MLA Emmanuel Mushahary has also announced to quit BPF.
