Decision on police martyrs’ wards keen to study in private schools is under consideration: J&K DGP

Jammu/UNI: Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir Police have always remained on forefront for the welfare of its jawans and the families of martyrs’, Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh here said that the decision on wards of police martyrs’ interested to study in private institutions is also under the consideration of the government.

“It was decided that the wards of police martyrs’, who want to study in private schools instead of J&K Police Public Schools, the government will bear all their expenses upto the higher secondary (Class 12th),” DGP Dilbag Singh here told UNI.

He said, “the order in this context is already issued but to be implemented on ground.”

He further said, “right mechanism is awaited as the government is working on various modalities ahead of its implementation.”

Pertinently, 1568 police personnel including officers of J&K Police have sacrificed lives while fighting terrorism since 1989 in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Police Chief further said that the Department time to time sanction ex-gratia relief to the Next of Kin of martyred police personnel besides jobs on compassionate ground.

"Scholarships to toppers, free education to children of martyrs, financial help to those want to pursue professional studies, are among welfare measures for the families of our jawans," said Singh.

Asserting that it is like a 'Parivar' (Family) and as Head of the family, he tries to get all best facilities to the families of the martyrs, serving jawans, adding, "under 'Savera' scheme our members keep in touch with the families of the martyrs and try to find out their problems to address them accordingly."
Under Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), many existing welfare schemes are also benefitting jawans and their families, said tha police chief while thanking to the Government of India and the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for always being concerned for jawans and officers of J&K Police by announcing welfare schemes and other benefits to them.
