Two ZUF militants held with large number of ammunition in Manipur’s Bishnupur district

Guwahati/IBNS: Troops and police arrested two militants of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and recovered a large number of live ammunition in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of Bishnupur district police and Khoupan battalion of Assam Rifles under 21 Sector IGAR had carried out frisking and checking in front of Bishnupur district hospital on Tuesday evening.

During the frisking and checking the combined team intercepted a Maruti Swift car bearing registration number MN-06LA-5643 along with the two ZUF militants.

The arrested militants were identified Samuel Pamei (38) and Muram Kamei (23).

Upon checking the vehicle, the security personnel had recovered 545 numbers of live ammunition of AK Rifles, 114 numbers live ammunition of M-16, 15 numbers of Lethod live ammunition, a total of 674 numbers of live ammunition were seized.

The arrested militants and the seized ammunition have been handed over to Bishnupur Police Station for further investigation and an FIR has been lodged.
