Jan Abhiyan aims to ensure 100% saturation of beneficiary schemes in Kashmir: Advisor Sharma

Srinagar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma on Wednesday said that Jan Abhiyan is aimed at improving service delivery and redress the public grievances within the shortest possible time and achieve cent percent saturation of beneficiary oriented schemes. 

He said this during his visit to district Ganderbal to inspect the proceedings of Block Diwas, an initiative under Jan Abhiyan which began Wednesday in all blocks of the district. 

The Advisor participated in the Block Diwas proceedings of block Ganderbal and block Kangan.District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, SSP Ganderbal KhalilPoswal, besides other district and police officers accompanied the Advisor. 

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of people and PRI members of different Panchayat where they apprised the officers about their grievances and sought early redressal of the same. 

The officers of all line departments were available at all Blocksto hear the public grievances. 

The line departments had also installed stalls at all blocks where they providedinformation to the people regarding several welfare schemes offered by their departments.Hand Holding in the form of financial assistance was also provided to the beneficiaries atthe Block Diwas. 

During his visit to block Ganderbal, Advisor Sharma handed over cheques worth Rs. 14lakh among beneficiaries under Labour Assistance Scheme. 

Besides, paddy threshers,passbooks under KCC, hearing aids, Income Certificates, etc. were also handed over tothe beneficiaries by the Advisor.Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor Sharma said Jan Abhiyan and Back to Village programmes have been launched with the purpose to reach out to the people at their doorsteps to listen to their grievances and meet the developmental aspirations of locals. 

While briefing on forthcoming B2V3, the Advisor said that during the 3rd phase of B2Vthe visiting officers (gazetted) will stay for 3 days and 2 nights in their respective panchayats to listen to the grievances and assess the development needs of the people. 

“The main focus will be on doing development rather than talking development," he added. 

At Kangan, the Advisor said that the main aim of organizing the Jan Abhiyan is to reach to the remote areas of the UT so that benefits of the welfare schemes reach to every beneficiary. 

He urged upon the officers to ensure that the certificates which are neededfor applying various benefit oriented schemes shall be issued to the people well in time. 

The Deputy Commissioner also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance ofactive participation of people in Block Diwas. 

To mitigate the issues and grievances of people, the district administration has started to listen to the public issues, grievances and demands on a daily basis from 10:30 am to 11:30 am except Wednesdays and Sundays, he added. 

Meanwhile, the Advisor distributed Domicile Certificates and Income Certificates amongthe beneficiaries at Kangan. Later, the Advisor paid obeisance at Sufi Shrine, Syed Qamrudin Bukhari and prayed forpeace, prosperity and well-being of people in J&K.
