Rajnath Singh to address Lok Sabha tomorrow on row with China

New Delhi/IBNS: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will make a statement in the Parliament on the issue "developments on our borders in Ladakh" on Tuesday.

His statement in the Lok Sabha is scheduled to commence around 3 PM, media reports said.

The opposition Congress, spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi, has been continuously attacking the government over the issue of the stand-off with China at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the de facto border between the two countries.

India and China engaged in a deadly border clash that took place between soldiers of the two Asian giants at Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on Jun 15 night.

In this first deadly clash in a time span of over 40 years, at least 20 Indian personnel were martyred.

Not limiting to that, twice over the last three weeks, Chinese troops had engaged in provocative action in the south bank Pangong Tso.

India had been able to prevent China's "provocative military manoeuvres", seen as an attempt to change the status quo in the South Bank area of Pangong Lake.

On Aug 31, even as the ground commanders of the two sides were in discussions to de-escalate the situation, the Chinese troops again engaged in provocative action.

"Due to the timely defensive action, the Indian side was able to prevent these attempts to unilaterally alter the status quo," New Delhi had stated.
