Uttar Pradesh Crime: Four held on charges of kidnapping in Jaunpur

Jaunpur/UNI: Four arrested on alleged charges of kidnapping a BSc student from near the Shekhpur mohalla in the Line Bazar area of this Uttar Pradesh district, police sources said on Saturday.

The alleged accused were identified as Rajeev Ratan, Sanjiv Ratan of Mainuddinpur village, Shyam Bahadur Yadav, resident of Kulhnamau and Anil Yadav, belonging to Hariballabhpur.

According to sources here, Ashutosh Yadav (23) is a second year student of BSc at BHU and had come back home in March due to the lockdown and was studying at the Shekhpur house.

As per his family, Ashutosh was talking to someone on his mobile phone at a street near the house at around 2115 hrs on Thursday night. When he did not return till late night, his parents started searching for him. As his whereabouts could not be ascertained, police were intimated at around 2330 hrs.

The police first filed a missing person's report. Later, the parents alleged that their son had been kidnapped and complained to the Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate on Friday evening.

The alleged accused have old enmity with the family, the sources said.

Subsequently, the police registered an abduction case and further investigation was underway, the sources added.
