Bulandshahr/UNI: A 48-year-old widow was allegedly gangraped by five people in the Biwi Nagar area of this Uttar Pradesh district, police sources said on Friday.

According to sources here, an individual hailing from a village of the Biwi Nagar area has registered a complaint stating that her sister-in-law had gone to the farm on Thursday evening.

When she did not return till late night, they started searching for her. She was found lying in a dishevelled state at another farm. She later said that two youths from the neighboring village forcibly took her to Malkhan's farm where five people gang-raped her.

One of the accused was caught by the rural people and handed over to the cops. However, the accused ran from police custody.

The victim woman's brother-in-law had registered a case against five people while identifying two youths of the Sehra and Daroli villages. Police admitted the victim to CHC, Bibinagar from where she was sent to the district hospital.

The locals have alleged that the identified accused Monu, who had been caught on the spot had been handed over to the police but due to the negligence of the policemen, Monu ran from police custody near the Bibinagar police station.

Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh said that a medical check-up of the victim has been done. Assuring a probe into the allegation of Monu escaping from police custody, the SSP said that action will be taken against the guilty policemen.
