New Delhi/UNI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday held a massive protest in front of the BJP headquarters here, for imposing 'unnecessary tax burden' on the people of Delhi.

The BJP-ruled South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has approved levying professional tax on salaried individuals and others, and also cleared a hike in property transfer tax, while postponed the decision on electricity tax hike.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the AAP said,"Aam Aadmi Party stages a massive protest led by AAP leader and MCD Prabhari @ipathak25 in front of BJP headquarter against BJP ruled MCD for imposing unnecessary tax burden on Delhi people.AAP demands roll back of all the three taxes imposed by BJP's MCD.#BJPKiCorruptMCD".

The protest was led by senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak.

"From the House to the road, the Aam Aadmi Party has always stood for the public interest. During this Corona period, AAP Municipal Corporation in-charge @ipathak25 led a protest against inhuman taxes raised by BJP ruled SDMC," the AAP said.

The Delhi Police have detained AAP MCD in-charge Pathak and other party volunteers who were protesting against BJP led MCD's taxes that have 'burdened' the people of Delhi.

"The police arrested the AAP volunteers, protesting in a peaceful manner," Pathak added.
