Biometric authentication not necessary for drawing ration in Kashmir : Govt

Srinagar/UNI: Clarifying that punching fingerprints and biometric authentication on Point of Sale (POS) machines while drawing the ration was not necessary,  Directorate of Food, Civil  Supplies & Consumer Affairs Kashmir, said it was voluntary.

He said while drawing the ration for the months of July and August 2020 biometric authentication is not mandatory, but is only voluntary.

He has made it clear that the machines will remain active in all the shops in case any beneficiary from another state or UT wishes to draw his or her ration under 'One Nation One Ration Card' scheme.

The punching and Biometrics Authentication will, however, be compulsory from September for all the beneficiaries, he said.
