Uttar Pradesh: Police rescue abducted boy, 5 held

Gonda/UNI: Uttar Pradesh police and STF, in a swift act, arrested 5 people including a couple and rescued from their possession a 6-year-old  kidnapped boy of a trader family here on Saturday early morning.

The UP police action was done within 12 hours of the kidnapping of the boy.

IG(STF) Amitabh Yash said here that the boy Namo was rescued after an encounter with thr abducters in Colonelganj police station area. Two of the criminals also sustain bullet injuries on their leg.

But he said that the kidnapped boy was safe and healthy.

The IG said that the four people were involved in the kidnapping and its prime conspirator was one Suraj Pandey and his wife Chabi, a native of Parsapur area of the district .The other culprits were Raj Pandey, brother of Suraj , Umesh Yadav and Dipu Kashyap.

Dipu and Umesh sustained bullet injury and they were admitted to the hospital . One 32 bore pistol, 2 country made pistols , several cartridges and a car was recovered from the criminals.

Chabi had phoned the family of the boy demanding a ransom of Rs 4 crore for his release.

Meanwhile, Additional chief secretary home Awanish Awasthi, announced reward of Rs 2 lakh to the police and STF team for the success in the recovery of the kidnapped boy within 12 hours .

Police said that 3 people said to be distributing sanitisers and face masks went to the house of Hari Kumar Gupta under Colonelganj police station area and asked his son Namo to accompany them so that he can be given the things at around 1330 hours on Friday .

But the people kidnapped the boy and later his father received a ransom call made by the kidnappers. They had demanded Rs 4 crore ransom for the release of the boy.
