Kashmir: Policeman shot dead in Kulgam

Srinagar/UNI: A constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was shot dead by militants in south Kashmir district of Kulgam late Wednesday night, a police spokesman said.

He said militants fired upon a policeman Abdul Rashid Dar at his native village Furrah, Kulgam last night.

Dar was immediately shifted to hospital, where he succumbed.

Later, security forces and police immediately cordoned off the entire area and conducted a search operation.

However, the militants had managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
