New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced a scheme which will enable people living in the national capital to avail the doorstep delivery of ration.

Kejriwal also said his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which rules the union territory, will implement the central government's "One Nation, One Ration Card" policy too along with his scheme.

"Delhi government today gave a nod to "doorstep delivery of ration" scheme. With the help of this scheme, people will not have to rush to ration shops. Poor people will now get their rations at their doorsteps," Kejriwal told a press briefing.

"The day when our scheme will be implemented, the central government's "One Nation, One Ration Card" scheme will also be implemented in the national capital," added the CM.

In the wake of the migrant workers' suffering due to anti-Covid-19 lockdown, the Narendra Modi government, which rules the Centre, had announced "One Nation, One Ration Card" scheme to allow people to use the same card to draw ration at any part of the country.

The migrant worker being in any part of the country can draw a portion of the ration if the rest was drawn by his family members residing in other cities, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said.
