'Truth can be harassed, cannot be defeated': Sachin Pilot tweets after Gehlot meets Rajasthan Guv seeking his removal from cabinet

Jaipur/IBNS: Soon after Congress sacked Sachin Pilot from the posts of cabinet minister, deputy chief minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met Rajasthan Governor Ashok Gehlot asking him to drop Pilot and two of his supporters from the state cabinet, said media reports.

The two Cabinet ministers who have been sacked are--Vishvender Singh and Ramesh Meena. The party passed a resolution for their removal at Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting in the state capital after removing Sachin Pilot from his currently held positions in Rajasthan.

Govind Singh Dotasra, state minister of Education and Tourism, has been appointed the new Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president.

Media reports said there were 102 Congress MLAs present in the meeting on Tuesday's  Congress Legislative Party (CLP) and unanimously demanded Pilot's removal.

Meanwhile, Sachin Pilot changed his Twitter bio to 'MLA from Tonk and former minister of IT, telecom and corporate affairs in the government of India'.

Apart from the post of Deputy Chief Minister, Pilot held five portfolios in the state ministry, including  public works department as well as the panchayati raj.

He responded to his sacking with a one-line  tweet. "Truth can be harassed, cannot be defeated," he tweeted in Hindi.

Pilot had skipped the CLP meeting in Jaipur on Monday that reportedly recommended removal from the party.

“The Congress party has taken some decisions with a heavy heart,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a press conference today after the CLP meeting.

“I regret that Sachin Pilot and some of his associates have been swayed by the BJP’s plot and are now conspiring to topple the Gehlot government elected by 8 crore Rajasthanis. It is unacceptable,” said Sujrewala.

The party also sacked presidents of Youth Congress and Sewa Dal--Mukesh Bhakar and Rakesh Pareek--- as presidents of frontal organisations.

These posts went to Ganesh Ghoghra, an MLA from Dungarpur, and Hem Singh Shekhawat, a HIndustan Times report said.

Congress had sent communiques to Pilot on Monday in an attempt to placate him, but in vain.

“If anyone is upset in the family, they should find a solution by sitting with members of the family. On behalf of Congress leadership, including Sonia ji and Rahul ji, I convey that doors of Congress party are always open for Sachin ji or any member,” Surjewala had said Monday.

“If anyone, be at any post or profile, has any problem, they must come forward and mention the issue on the party forum. We will work to resolve it together and keep our government intact in the state,” Sujrewala had added.
