Police seize contraband drugs worth over Rs 2 crore, arrest drug peddler in Manipur’s Moreh

Guwahati/IBNS: Police have seized huge quantity of contraband drugs worth more than Rs 2 crore and arrested a drug peddler in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on Friday.

Based on specific inputs, the Tengnoupal district police conducted frishking, checking at Moreh police check post and tried to stop a Maruti Suzuki WangonR car bearing registration number of MN05A 7824 travelling from Moreh towards Imphal.

A top police official said when the police team signaled to stop for checking, two persons from the car ran away from the area and the police team chased them but unfortunately the driver was unable to arrest.

But a person who came along with the driver in the car was arrested.

Police personnel had recovered 75 packets of brown sugar weighing 958 grams and 5000 WY tablets from the car.

The arrested person was identified as Thangjalet Khongsai.

The arrested person along with the contraband drugs were handed over to Moreh police station for further legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, Moreh police has registered a case against the drug peddler and search operation is on to find out the fled driver of the car.
