Jammu/UNI: An alert patrolling team of the BSF on Saturday morning shot down a Hexa Copter drone carrying weapons near Pansar Border outpost along the border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Top BSF officers said that the role of ISI and Pak rangers cannot be denied in this incident, as without their involvement, the drone could not have been operated and allowed to cross the border.

Speaking to reporters at Pansar BOP in Hiranagar Sector, Jammu Frontier, IG BSF N S Jamwal said that averting a major terrorist action, the alert troops of BSF Jammu shot down a Pakistani drone near Kathua International Border during the wee hours on Saturday morning.

“The drone was carrying one MA carbine machine gun (US made), two 60 rounds magazines and seven Chinese made grenades,” he said, adding that the BSF intelligence branch was receiving inputs about possible use of drones for ferrying arms and ammunition from the Pakistani side.

“The troops were accordingly put on high alert and the border domination was exponentially increased,” he said and added that this morning at about 0510 hours the BSF party noticed the movement of a Hexa Copter drone coming from the Pakistani side.

“The drone was flying at a height of about 150 to 200 feet inside Indian territory. The alert troops on the ground reacted swiftly and shot it down,” he added.

Jamwal said that on inspection it was found to be a Hexa copter (China made)" weighing about 17.5 kgs. The payload capacity of the Hexa copter was on the larger side.

From the site the BSF discovered a Hexa copter (size 8 feet x 6.2 feet), four batteries, one radio signal receiver, two GPS, seven China made grenades, one M4 carbine machine (US made), two magazines and 60, 5.56 mm rounds.
