Anurachal Pradesh: People violate lockdown norms, queue up in Seppa for cold drinks

Guwahati/IBNS: Defying all social distancing norms and government orders to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a large crowd gathered at a playground in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng district to buy carbonated cold drinks.

According to the reports, a large number of people of East Kameng district – a bordering district of Arunachal Pradesh along Indo-China border had gathered at general ground at Seppa on May 14 as the cold drinks selling agency started distributing cold drinks bottles.

Many photographs of the incident went viral on social media.

The people lined up at the ground to buy cold drinks and a truck loaded with cold drinks bottles was spotted there.

The district administration had deployed security personnel to control the situation.

At a time when the entire world is now fighting against COVID-19 pandemic, the people of East Kameng district are worried about not getting a cold drink bottle.

Some locals said that, along with other food items, cold drinks are like an essential stuff for the people of East Kameng district.

“Cold drinks are most popular among the people of Seppa and other parts of East Kameng district and they have used it regularly,” a local resident of Seppa said.

Recently, the district administration of East Kameng district had sealed 12 shops at Seppa for selling cold drinks in high rates.
