Kolkata/IBNS: A two-member visiting central team has heaped praises upon Kolkata's Beliaghata ID Hospital over its handling of Covid-19 weeks after the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal faced sharp criticism from the Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) over the health infrastructure in the state.

Visiting Beliaghata ID Hospital on Wednesday, the central team comprising Dr. Aparajita Dasgupta and Dr. Lina Bandyopadhyay wrote in the visitors' books that the "arrangements" and "infrastructure" in the hospital were "EXCELLENT".

The note reads, "I am totally floored with the arrangements, infrastructure and the care meted out to the patients of IDBG. In one word all is EXCELLENT. It is one of the rarest hospital providing food, transport and lodging to all who are involved with the care of Covid-19 patients...."

"The cleanliness, efficiency and sincerity of the hospital and the dedication among the health personnel has impressed us. May this hospital continue to serve humanity with all zeal & sincerity," it further added.

The Mamata Banerjee government and the Centre were at the loggerheads earlier over the visits of four IMCTs to the eastern state to assess the Covid-19 situation.

The political war of words was triggered after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the central government of violating India's federal structure by not informing the State over the IMCTs' visit in prior.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) government had also faced flak from the Opposition over its alleged poor Covid testing and fudging of data though the testing has increased manifolds in the last few weeks to over 69,000 till May 15.
