New Delhi/IBNS: The four men convicted for the brutal 2012 gang-rape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedical student - who was later christened Nirbhaya by the media- will hang in the wee hours of Friday after the Supreme Court rejected their last-minute plea to stop their execution.

After the pleas of the convicts of Nirbhaya, who had succumbed to a brutal gangrape by five men in a bus in Dec 2012, were rejected by the Delhi High Court, their lawyers had moved to the Supreme Court past midnight seeking stay on hanging, a few hours before their hanging today.

The parents of Nirbhaya had reached the Supreme Court too as the hearing began at 2:30, said reports.

Now, all four convicts will be executed at 5:30 am.

It may be recalled that on March 5, Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana had issued for the fourth-time a fresh date for execution of death warrants on March 20 at 0530 hrs against the four convicts--Mukesh Singh, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Vinay Kumar Sharma and Akshay Singh for the December 16, 2012, gang rape-murder of the 23-year-old physiotherapy intern.
