New Delhi/IBNS: Six family members of the Delhi based man, and the wife of the Italian tourist, who had tested positive for novel coronavirus, have been also infected by the deadly virus, Union Health Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Another case in Jaipur, wife of the already confirmed Italian patient, has been confirmed for COVID-19. 14 Italians and one Indian, who were part of the team of the Jaipur COVID-19 confirmed case, are also initially confirmed positive for COVID-19," said the statement.

"Six (6) family members at Agra, who are family members of the COVID19 confirmed case from Delhi, are confirmed for COVID-19," the Health Ministry informed.

The Delhi-based man had gone to Agra to meet his family after returning from Vienna, said reports.

According to media reports, he had thrown a party in a five-star hotel in Delhi and six more people from Noida had come in his contact, including three children.

While his family members in Agra tested positive, media reports said that the six people in Noida have tested negative for novel coronavirus.

However, these six people who tested negative have been asked to remain in home quarantine for the next 14 days, said reports.

In addition, two cases with high viral load have been detected in Telangana, the Health Ministry said today.

Union Health Minsiter Dr Harsh Vardhan said in a press conference that the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases in India is now 28.

The 28 confirmed cases of coronavirus include 15 Italian nationals who had come for holidaying in Rajasthan, their Indian driver, Delhi-based man who went to Vienna and his six family members in Agra, one person in Hyderabad who had travelled to Dubai on an assignment, and three medical students who study in Wuhan but have now recovered.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that 88 people have been identified to have come in contact with the Delhi man and all of them will be screened.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday said all international passengers will be screened at the airport and not just the ones coming from earlier specified 12 countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he held an extensive meeting over Coronavirus and also asked people not to panic.

The Prime Minister had tweeted, "Had an extensive review regarding preparedness on the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Different ministries & states are working together, from screening people arriving in India to providing prompt medical attention."

"There is no need to panic. We need to work together, take small yet important measures to ensure self-protection."

Coronavirus, which had originated in China's Wuhan late last year, has already spread to over 60 countries with Italy becoming the new hub of the outbreak.
