Assam: Army-police recover huge quantity of explosives

Guwahati/IBNS: The Army and police recovered huge quantity of explosives and apprehended a person in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district on Sunday.

Nased on intelligence input, the troops of Indian army and South Salmara Mankachar district police had jointly launched operation at Manulyapara area under Kharuabandha police station along Assam-Meghalaya border and recovered huge quantity of explosives from a person.

Security personnel had recovered 1100 detonators, 200 gelatin sticks, 200 meters wires, one smart phone in possession from the person.

The nabbed person was identified as Rejjak Ali.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of South Salmara Mankachar district Arif Ahmed said that, following the intelligence input, 3/11 Gorkha regiment and police had jointly conducted the operation.

“Our investigation is going on and we are trying to find out the reason why the person carried the explosives and from where,” Arif Amhed said.
