Six killed in accident on Lucknow-Agra expressway

Kanpur/UNI: At least six people were killed and several others were injured when a SUV collided with a Bihar government bus on the accident prone Lucknow-Agra expressway on late Monday night.

On Sunday night too, seven people were burnt alive on the save expressway after a van hit a truck.

According to the accident that occurred on Monday night under Bilhour police station area, the SUV going from Lucknow to Agra was hit by a bus coming from opposite direction and going to Bihar.

In the accident all the five occupants of the SUV were killed on the spot while the driver of the bus also died.

Around 15 passengers of the bus were also injured.

Police said here on Tuesday that the bus driver lost control over his vehicle and jumped the divider. The bus, coming from Ghaziabad and carrying around 40 passengers, first hit the SUV and thereafter went on the service lane.

The deceased of the SUV were identified as Sunni (35), Mukesh (40), Ram Shanker (45), Surjeet (33) while another was yet to be identified. The SUV was registered on the name of one Sunita Singh of Delhi.

Police said that the impact of the accident was such a nit that even after opening of the air bags of the SUV, it could not save the life of the passengers.

The driver of the bus, who also died in the accident was also yet to be identified.
