The injured student was rushed to a hospital.
The shooter, identified as Rambhakt Gopal from his Facebook profile, has been arrested.
Gopal was brandishing his gun openly, and his action was preplanned, claimed media reports.
The attacker's Facebook profile shows he was live on the social networking site before firing at the protestors.
The incident took place while the students were marching towards Rajghat.
Following the incident, police barricaded the entire spot and stopped the march.
However, the protestors said they won't budge down as they will carry on with the march and form a human chain at India Gate at 5 pm instead of previously fixed time 3:30 pm.
The plan to form a human chain in Delhi is on—except instead of 3:30, we will gather at 5PM at Delhi Gate. We will form a human chain, sing the national anthem at 5.17pm and disperse. Let the Delhi Police do what they wish. If they attempt to detain/arrest us we will not resist.— We The People of India (@ThePeopleOfIN) January 30, 2020
