Hemant Soren sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Jharkahnd

Ranchi/IBNS:Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) leader Hemant Soren was sworn in as the 11th Chief Minsiter of Jharkhand by Governor Droupadi Murmu here in the presence of the opposition leaders across the country.

Hemant who led the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance to Jhrakhand took the oath amid cheers of "Jai Jharkhand".

RJD’s Satyanand Bhogta and Congress’ Jharkhand unit chief Rameshwar Oraon also took oath took oath as ministers.

The 11th Chief Minister of Jharkhand witnessed the participation of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the DMK’s MK Stalin, Nationalist Congress Party’s Supriya Sule, RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav and Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP’s) Sanjay Singh were among those present at the ceremony in Ranchi’s Morabadi Grounds.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot were also present.

Former President Pranab Mukherjee who was also invited to the oath-taking ceremony could not attend due to ill-health.

Hemant led the Mahagathbandhan comprising the JMM, Congress and JMM to a comprehensive victory in the Assembly elections against the BJP by winning 47 seats, six more than the majority mark of 41 while the BJP finished at a disappointing 25 seats to finish second. JMM won 30 seats.

Ahead of the swearing in ceremony, Heamant tweeted: "I am overwhelmed by the love and honour given by the people of Jharkahnd.

But I request you to present me bouquets of knowledge, I mean any book of your liking, instead of flower bouquets. I feel bad when I can not take care of the flowers you gifyt me." 

According to reports, Hemant will send the list of cabinet ministers by 4 pm today. Jharkhand can have 12 cabinet ministers including the Chief Minister,

The remaining ministers will be sworn in by January 5 after the power-sharing formula is worked ot, the reports added.
