Example for the country: Yogi Adityanath praises crackdown on anti-CAA protesters

Lucknow/IBNS: Praising his own government's crackdown on all people who in the name of anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act-protest vandalised public properties, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the actions against the agitators have set an example for the country.

In a series of tweets posted by Yogi's office, the Chief Minister said the protesters are shocked to see the action and they have done a big mistake by challenging the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Uttar Pradesh government.

".....The decision to crackdown on those people is exemplary and this action on miscreants will become an outstanding example in the country."

"Every rioter is shocked. From now on, the compensation will be taken from the one who did it (vandalised public properties)," the Chief Minister said.

Adityanath's action has drawn ire from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, an arch-rival of the BJP, who said, "There are several non-BJP governments in the country. If we follow the same policy, will it be good for all?"

At least 20 people were killed in the widespread violence which took place in last couple of weeks over the CAA protests.

However, Uttar Pradesh witnessed a peaceful Friday this week amid tight security for the prayers.
