Maharashtra Cirme: Couple held for killing senior citizen in Thane

Thane, Dec 10 (UNI) A couple has been handcuffed for killing a senior citizen and dumping her body in a lake at Bhiwandi taluka, the district police said.

Talking to the media, DSP Thane Rural Shivaji Rathod said on November 22, the body of the victim, aged (70) was found floating in the lake at Vadunavghar.

In a postmortem report it was revealed that the woman was attacked with a hard and blunt object.

During the investigations, it was cleared that the victim, Sonubai Krishna Chowdhari, a widow was staying with her children and was also a pensioner. She was from Bapgaon of Choudharpada.

Her son had registered a missing complaint on November 21.

Police further said that a couple had purchased luxury items was totally indebted and couldn’t repay his loan amounts at all.

Taking inspiration by watching crime TV serials, ''Crime Patrol'' and ''Sawadhan India'', we made this crime, the accused said.

It was on November 21 at noon, when the victim was in the room, the duo attacked her with the wooden block and killed her.

Later, Somnath in the middle of the night threw the body which was recovered on November 22.

The police have seized the car which was used in the crime and also jewellery worth around Rs 2.90 lakhs stolen from the victim, police added.
