New Delhi/IBNS: The new uniform of the Rajya Sabha Marshals did not go down well at least with the Indian Army with several of them calling the move as "illegal", media reports said.

As the winter session of the parliament began on Monday, the Marshals of the Rajya Sabha were seen in uniform resembling the Army personnel instead of the previous traditional attire with a turban on head.

Former Indian Army chief Ved Malik tweeted, "Copying and wearing of military uniforms by non military personnel is illegal and a security hazard. I hope @VPSecretariat,@RajyaSabha & @rajnathsingh ji will take early action."

Union Minister and a retired General of the Indian Army, VK Singh, also called the move as "illegal".

Questions were also raised by the parliamentarians as Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh asked Vice President and chairman of the house, Venkaiah Naidu, whether Martial law has been imposed on the house.

Though Naidu refused to entertain the question a day ago when the Rajya Sabha met for its 250th session, the Vice President on Tuesday said he has asked the Secretariat of the upper house to reconsider the new uniform of the Marshals.

The Rajya Sabha Secretariat had taken the call on the new uniform, Naidu informed the upper house.
