Priyanka Gandhi Vadra takes dig at Modi govt over farm loan waiver

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday took a dig at the BJP government at the Centre, asking for whom was the government waiving off loans worth Rs 76,000 crore, when poor farmers, people associated with Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) bank were in distress.

In a series of tweets, referring to the PMC bank fraud, Priyanka said people associated with the PMC bank were in distress and screaming for help.

Referring to a news report, Priyanka questioned that for whom was the government waiving loans worth Rs 76000 crore, while poor farmers, people associated with PMC bank were in distress.

As per the news report shared by Priyanka, SBI wrote off bad loan worth Rs 76000 crore that were drawn by around 220 people who were now unable to pay back the same, and the information was sought through an RTI by a news broadcaster.

'Farmers are being sent to jail. The economy is in shambles. People are being fired from their jobs, people associated with PMC Bank are screaming , ' Priyanka said.

'But for whom is the BJP government waiving loans worth Rs 76,000 crores ? Who took this money?', Priyanka's tweet read further.

She expressed concern over the situation of farmers and other people in distress in the country, alleging that the economy was in shambles.
