Want to ask Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar why they were against Art. 370 abrogation: Amit Shah

| @indiablooms | Oct 10, 2019, at 01:59 pm

Sangli: Trying to corner the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah here on Thursday said he wanted to ask both Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar- the leaders of the two major opposition parties in Maharashtra- as to why they had opposed the abrogation of Article 370.

Shah addressing a rally in poll-bound Maharashtra said, "When PM Modi brought the proposal to abrogate Article 370, both Congress & NCP were against it and were revolting against it. I want Rahul Gandhi & Sharad Pawar to answer to the people of Maharashtra why they were against the removal of Article 370."

The BJP president has highlighted the abolition of triple talaq and removal of Article 370 as the main achievements of the Narendra Modi government after returning to power in 2019.

"PM Modi removed the usage of Triple Talaq and abrogated Article 370 & 35A from J&K in the first session of the Parliament after returning in power. Devendra Fadnavis, in parallel, has worked towards carving a new & developed Maharashtra," he said.

In a historic step, the BJP government at the Centre withdrew Jammu and Kashmir's special status on Aug 5 by abrogating Articles 370 and 35A.

Also Shah reminded the public about the Indian Air Force (IAF)'s surgical strike in Balakot as a reply to the Pulwama terror attack which took place on Feb 14.

"The whole world saw India in new light as soon as the Surgical Strikes were carried out. The world learnt that if they kill even one Indian, they will have to pay for it dearly," he said.

Comparing the present regime with the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, Shah said, "During the Manmohan Singh govt, terrorists from Pakistan would enter through our borders regularly and kill our soldiers. PM Modi has worked towards safe-guarding the nation."

Trying to paint an image of a pro-farmer governments at the Centre and the state, the BJP president said, "PM Modi has also helped every farmer of Sangli, by directly transferring Rs 6,000 into their bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi."

"The Fadnavis Govt has waved off loans for 11 lakh farmers of Sangli, worth Rs 3700 crore. It has also built toilets for 1.7 lakh poor people. 46,000 people have been provided with gas connections," he added.

The state polls are due to be held on Oct 21. The BJP and Shiv Sena, which are ruling the state, are contesting the polls in an alliance.
