One NSCN (R) militant killed during encounter with army in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati, Sep 28 (IBNS): A hardcore militant of Naga outfit NSCN (R) was killed during an encounter with security forces in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Saturday morning.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input about presence of a militant group at Panchun village area near Kharsang town in Changlang district, the troops of Rajputana Rifle and Assam Rifles had launched at the area.

“When the troops reached the remote area, the militants started fire and heavy rounds of bullet were exchanged. During the gun fight, one militant was killed and other militants had managed to flee from the area,” a top Defence official said.

The slain militant is yet to be identified.

Security personnel had recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition including M4 A1 USA made (colts) assault rifle, 78 rounds live ammunition, one misfire cartridge, five fired cartridges, one magazine, one pouch, two mobile phones, one knife with cover, one torch, a combat shoe, combat trouser, shirt, belt and other items from the area.

Search operation is being carried out by the army and Arunachal Pradesh police in the area to nab the fled militants.
