Jaishankar holds parleys with G4 members, productive session with GCC partners

New York, Sep 26 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a 'very purposeful' G4 meeting with his counterparts of Brazil, Germany and Japan on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.

''A very purposeful G4 meeting. So important for the future of the UN. Thank you Ernesto Araújo, Heiko Maas, Motegi,'' wrote Dr Jaishankar on Twitter.

The G4 nations comprising Brazil, Germany, India and Japan are four countries which support each other's bids for permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council.

Earlier, Dr Shankar held a very productive session with the key partners of Gulf Cooperation Council --Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Foreign Minister of Oman Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah and  UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash.

''A meeting with key partners: the Gulf Cooperation Council - SG GCC Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, FM of Oman Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah & State Minister for Foreign Affairs of UAE Anwar Gargash.

"Very productive discussion on further growth of ties,'' he said in his missive.
