Guwahati, Sept 10 (IBNS): India on Tuesday deported four Rohingyas to Myanmar via Manipur’s Moreh along Indo-Myanmar border.

The four Rohingya Muslims were arrested in 2013 for illegally entering in Manipur’s Churachandpur and convicted under the Foreigners Act and kept at Manipur Central Jail at Sajiwa.

Top officials of Manipur government and police handed over the Rohingyas to Myanmar authorities at Moreh.

The deportation took place at Immigration Office of Myanmar near the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge.

According to the reports, two of them are from Buthidaung Mrone district and remaining two of them are from Mungdow Mrone district of Rakhine State, Myanmar.

Immigration officials from Tamu, Myanmar took custody of the four men after completing the formalities with their Indian counterparts and police officials from Manipur.

A team of Indian Reserved Battalion (IRB) and officials of Manipur Central Jail escorted the Myanmar nationals from Manipur Central Jail (Sajiwa) in Imphal East District in a bus to Moreh.

On March 29 this year, three Rohingyas including a girl were deported to Myanmar via Manipur’s Moreh along Indo-Myanmar border.

On August 12, security forces had arrested seven Rohingyas along with one Myanmar transporter from Moreh area.
