Muslim youth beaten up by mob in Assam’s Hojai for alleged involvement in ‘Love Jihad’

Guwahati, Aug 23 (IBNS): A Muslim youth was seriously injured after he was beaten up by a mob in Assam’s Hojai district for alleged involvement in ‘Love Jihad’. 

The incident happened on Aug 21 night.

The youth was beaten up by the mob at Puarana Bazar area in Hojai town.

Some local people alleged that, the youth identified as Rafikul Islam had tried to make a relationship with a Hindu girl in the area by changing his original name.

When the mob was beating the youth, some people shouted ABVP Zindabad slogans.

The youth was seriously injured in the attack and later local police had rescued him and admitted him at a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, the Hojai district police haven’t registered any case in connection with the incident so far.
