Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Bhutan today

Thimpu/New Delhi, Aug 17 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bhutan for two days on Saturday.

He will visit the nation at the invitation of Prime Minister of Bhutan Dr. Lotay Tshering.

"Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bhutan, very early in his second term, is in line with GoI’s continued emphasis on its ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

During the visit, the Prime Minister is expected to receive audiences with Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan and Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan and hold talks with the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dr. Lotay Tshering. 

India and Bhutan share a special and time-tested partnership, anchored in mutual understanding and respect and reinforced by a shared cultural heritage and strong people to people links.
