Help Wayanad: Rahul Gandhi urges peole as flood devastates his constituency

New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday appealed to help people in his Parliamentary constituency Wayanad which has been devastated by floods.

Thousands left homeless and shifted to relief camps.

Making an appeal on socia media, Gandhi wrote 'An Appeal My Parliamentary Constituency, Wayanad, has been devastated by floods with thousands left homeless and shifted to relief camps.'

Gandhi urged the people to donate material, including water bottles, sleeping mats, blankets, under garments, dhotis, night gowns, children's apparel, slippers, sanitary napkins, soaps, rice, sugar, coconut oil and bread.

The Congress leader gave details where donors may arrange to send the material at collection centres in Malappuram district.

The death toll in rain-related incidents rose to 76 in Kerala on Monday as over 2,87,585 people from 83,274 families were shifted to 1,654 relief centres in the state so far.

According to the official sources, two people died in Thiruvananthapuram, 2 in Alappuzha, 1 in Kottayam, 5 in Idukki, 4 in Thrissur, 24 in Malappuram, 17 in Kozhikode, 12 in Wayanad, 8 in Kannur and 1 in Kasaragod for the last four days of torrential downpour.
