JNU student alleged rape : DCW issues notice to Delhi Police, seeks report by Friday

New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) Taking suo-moto cognizance of the alleged rape of the 21 year old JNU student by a cab driver , the Delhi Commission for Women on Tuesday issued a notice to the Delhi Police and sought details of the probe in the matter.

The DCW has asked the police to trace down the route taken by the cab driver in matter.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal has raised a question over patrolling and police pickets stating that how such an incident happened amidst police patrolling and has asked for a copy of the route map taken by the cab for three hours , and asked for the details of pickets , check points and the PCR station points along that route.

The commission has asked the police to provide the said information by Friday.

A detailed status report in the matter including the arrests made with a copy of FIR has also been sought by the commission including the complete information of PCR calls received in the case and the reaction time taken by the police to reach the spot in this regard.

The 21 year old JNU student was allegedly drugged and raped by the cab driver on her way back to the hostel from a friend's place near Mandir Marg on Friday night and was later found in a semi concious state near a park in South Delhi area.
