Srinagar, July 28 (IBNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government that it should not 'meddle' with the Article 35A in the Valley.

"Meddling with Article 35A will be akin to setting a powder keg on fire," Mehbooba Mufti was quoted as saying at an event in Srinagar city.

"If any hand tries to touch Article 35A then not only that hand but also the whole body will be burnt to ashes," she warned.

National Executive Member of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh Indresh Kumar on Saturday slammed the forces, which were instrumental in creation of Pakistan and was the root cause of trouble in the sub-continent.

Speaking at an event at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir here as part of the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations, Kumar exuded confidence that the Article 370 and Article 35-A will be a matter of past while Jammu and Kashmir will get back its lost part from Pakistan and China and then the integration of J&K with India would be complete.

He also paid tributes to Kargil War Hero, Shaheed Uday Maan Singh.

According to reports, the Centre has been proposing to remove  Article 370 and Article 35A from the Constitution.

Article 370 of the Indian constitution is an article that gives autonomous status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

At the same time, Article 35A of the Indian Constitution is an article that allows the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define “permanent resident” of the state.
Mufti on Saturday had raised her objection to Centre's move of deploying additional troops in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Centre’s decision to deploy additional 10,000 troops to the valley has created fear psychosis amongst people. There is no dearth of security forces in Kashmir. J&K is a political problem which won’t be solved by military means. GOI needs to rethink & overhaul its policy.," she tweeted.
