Kolkata, Jul 28 (UNI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary Rahul Sinha has said that if has his way many TMC leaders may spend the Pujas in jail this October.

Speaking at a party programme in Birbhum's Suri on Saturday, the saffron party leader who unsuccessfully fought the Lok Sabha elections in May, said, "Force the Trinamool Congress leaders who have taken cut money from you to do sit-ups holding their ears publicly."

However, he cautioned party men not to gherao the homes of these leaders as their families will be disturbed.

"Many TMC leaders will have to stay in jail during the Puja this time," he added.

Reacting to Sinha's statement, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim was quoted as saying that this was an old tactic of the Bharatiya Janata Party to influence Central agencies against the Trinamool Congress.

Wondering how could Sinha, who is not even a minister, "threaten us", Hakim said, "Everybody is not Mukul Roy who joined the BJP fearing summons from the CBI."
