Indian soldier killed in Pak firing on LoC in Rajouri

Jammu, July 22 (UNI): An Army jawan was killed in Pakistani firing on Monday along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan Army this morning resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation on the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri, defence spokesman here said.

He added: “Our troops responded strongly and inflicted heavy damage to Pakistan Army posts and casualties to Pakistan soldiers, details of damage is yet to be ascertained.”

He said that in the incident, Rifleman Mohammad Arif Shafi Alam Khan Pathan, an army soldier, was critically injured and he was air evacuated to Army Hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries.

Rifleman Mohammad Arif Shafi Alam Khan Pathan, a young soldier, belonged to Village Nawayard, Tehsil Fatehganj District Vadodara, Gujarat and is survived by his parents, father Shafialam Khan Pathan and mother Habiban Banu.

“Rifleman Mohammad Arif Shafi Alam Khan Pathan was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” he said.
