Calcutta HC admits lawsuit of Salt Lake mayor against notification on no-confidence motion

Kolkata, Jul15(UNI) A single-judge bench of Calcutta High Court today admitted a lawsuit filed by the Salt Lake mayor Sabyasachi Dutta challenging a notification on no-confidence motion against him.

Justice Samapti Chatterjee asked Dutta’s counsel Bikash Bhattacharya to make chairperson of the civic body Krishna Chakraborty a party to the case as she signed the notification.

The case is likely to come up for hearing on Tuesday.

A total of 35 TMC councilors led by deputy mayor Tapas Chatterjee singed the motion which was submitted to the chairperson on Tuesday last seeking a no-confidence motion.

The no-confidence is due to be held on July 18.
