Panaji, July 13 (IBNS): In a major development,  four news legislators, incuding former leader of opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar and Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo, have been added to the Goa Cabinet, media reports said on Saturdat.

Kavlekar has been named as the Deputy CM of Goa, reports said.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday sacked four ministers from his cabinet in view of induction of same number of new faces whose swearing is to take place at Raj Bhavan later in the day.

A notification issued by the government said,'The Governor of Goa is pleased to accept the recommendation of Chief Minister that Vijay Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte, Vinda Paliencar and Jayesh Salgaonkar shall cease to be members of the Council of Ministers headed by the Chief Minister, with immediate effect.'

While Sardesai, Paliencar and Salgaonkar are from Goa Forward Party (GFP), Khaunte is an independent MLA.

Ten Congress MLAs joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday.

The strength of the BJP has now been increased to 27 on the floor of the House.
