Arunachal Pradesh MLA attack: NIA takes over the probe, registers case

Guwahati, June 12 (IBNS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case to probe the killing of 11 persons including former National People’s Party (NPP) MLA Tirong Aboh and his son in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district on May 21.

According to the NIA, the premier investigation agency has registered a case relating to the killing of Arunachal MLA Tirong Aboh and others on May 21.

As per the FIR, when the convoy of vehicles carrying MLA, his associates and security team was crossing Pansumthong village area from Dibrugarh to Khonsa, suddenly it was ambushed and attacked by a group of suspected armed underground terrorists numbering around 10 to 12.

In the attack, Tirong Aboh, MLA, his son and nine others died while four others sustained injuries.

Suspected NSCN militants attacked Tirong Aboh and his convoy near Bogapani area.

Tirong Aboh, who contested in the Arunachal Pradesh assembly election from the Khonsa West assembly constituency, had retained the seat.

Meanwhile, Chakat Aboh, the widow of slain MLA Tirong Aboh, has welcomed the NIA investigation.
