Police apprehend nine smugglers with cattle along Assam-Bangladesh border
Guwahati, Jun 12 (IBNS): The police have apprehended nine cattle smugglers and seized nine cattles in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district along Indo-Bangladesh border on Tuesday night, officials said on Wednesday.
Police apprehended them while they were trying to smuggle the seized cattle to Bangladesh.
Acting on a tip-off, the South Salmara Mankachar district police launched two different operations along the Indo-Bangladesh border and apprehended nine cattle smugglers.
The security personnel have apprehended six from Mankachar area and three from Kokradanga-Sishumara area.
Security personnel have seized nine numbers of cattle and iron cutters, which was used to cut the border fencing in possession from them.
The apprehended cattle smugglers were identified as Akhirul Islam, Shahidur Islam, Abdul Azad, Chand Miya, Hafez Uddin, Mizanur Rahman, Akidul Mandal, Hasem Ali and Nur Alam.
“South Salmara Mankachar district police have apprehended nine cattle smugglers and six of them apprehended by Mankachar police team and three by Kharubandha police team. We have recovered iron cutters from the possession of the cattle smugglers. Total nine numbers of cattle have been seized,” a police officer said.
Recently, the BSF troops have apprehended six cattle smugglers along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
