New Delhi, May 24 (UNI): Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who contested on a Congress ticket and lost, on Friday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the massive victory recorded by the BJP in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls.

"Congratulations Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on your great win,” Sinha, a former BJP MP, tweeted.

Sinha, who had turned into a prominent voice against Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, also congratulated the BJP president and described him as a “master strategist”.

He congratulated his “family friend” Ravi Shankar Prasad, who won the Patna Sahib seat, which Mr Sinha has been representing for several years.

“It's a time to celebrate in the party which was mine too, till recently. I salute you all wholeheartedly,” said Sinha, who also had attended the January meeting in Kolkata, which was organised to galvanise Opposition unity.

The actor’s wife Poonam Sinha, who contested against Union home minister Rajnath Singh in Lucknow, also had to bite the dust in the recent polls.
