Bhopal, May 20 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday asked the  Kamal Nath-led Congress government to prove their majority in the state.

According to reports, the BJP has asked Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel for a special session of the state Assembly.

The move comes after several exit poll predictions gave a clean sweep to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election.

As per the exit polls' verdict, the Congress is unlikely to make gains in the Hindi heartland, even after the Assembly poll wins in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Following this, the BJP demanded that the Congress-led government prove its majority in the state Assembly.

The Kamal Nath-led government has 114 members in the 230-member Assembly.

It is supported by four Independents, two BSP MLAs and one Samajwadi Party MLA.

The BJP has 109 MLAs.
