Two killed, 36 injured as bus overturns in Uttar Pradesh

Ghazipur, Apr 23 (UNI) Two people were killed and 36 sustained injuries when a private bus carrying passengers overturned in the Nandganj area in this district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police Arvind Chaturvedi said that the private bus, en route Varanasi from Ghazipur lost control and turned turtle in an attempt to save a motorcycle-borne person near the Paharpur bazar.


Rajkumar Yadav (30), a resident of Sisauda died on the spot whereas another youth succumbed to his injuries at the Saidpur hospital. At least 36 people have been injured in the mishap.


The critically injured people are being sent to Varanasi while the injured people have been sent to the district hospital for further treatment.


The SP said that the locals broke the windows of the bus to rescue the injured passengers.


A long traffic jam occurred after the accident.


The bus was removed from the road with the help of a crane by the police.


The condition of three people including the bike-borne individual is stated to be critical.
