Seven Indians die in Sri Lankan blasts, confirm officials

Colombo, Apr 22 (IBNS): Two more Indians have died in the series of blasts that rocked Sri Lanka on Sunday, taking the figures to seven, officials said on Monday.

The two Indian nationals have been identified Vemurai Tulsiram and S R Nagaraj.

High Commission of India in Sri Lanka tweeted: "We regret to confirm the deaths of two more individuals in the blasts yesterday: - Vemurai Tulsiram
- S R Nagaraj."

  External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj also shared the tweet on her handle.

Sri Lankan government has revealed the name of a group whom they are suspecting to be behind the eight serial blasts which rocked the nation on Sunday.

The eight blasts left 290 people killed and disrupted peace in the Island Nation which had once witnessed violence during the Civil Wars.

Sri Lankan Health Minister and the government spokesman Rajitha Senaratne on Monday addressed a press conference and said that a local outfit, which was identified as muslim radical group National Tawheed Jamath, is suspected to be behind the attacks.

"There may be international links to them," the Minister further said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks so far.

He said all suicide bombers, who were involved in the attacks, were suspected to be Sri Lankan nationals.

Police have arrested 24 people so far in connection with the blasts.
