Case registered against five people for outraging woman's modesty on social media

Puducherry,Apr 22(UNI) Puducherry CBCID police on Monday registered cases against five persons including two government employees in a case pertaining to lowering the dignity of a widow by spreading false information on Whats app.

According to police,the woman, Deivanai alias Nila(42) was living with her two daughters and engaged in agriculture and social service in a complaint said that one Jayashankar alias Pramadayalan barged into her house and tried to molest her last year and she registered a complaint with Thirukkanur police.

Police registered a case and arrested Jayashankar.As the case was on some of his friends wanted a compromise and requested her to withdraw the case.

As she refused ,they started posting vulgar posts in three whats app groups with her photos since,October 2018.She also said that on December 28 ,last year she along with her daughter and a friend went to the DGP office on his motor cycle and lodged a complaint.

The gang took the photograph of her travel with the friend on motor cycle and posted in Whats app and Face book with with vulgar remarks ,she said and demanded action against them.

Based on the complaint police registered cases under section 354 A(1)(iv) 501,509 IPC and under section 67 of Information and Technology Act 200 read with 34IPC against Jayakumar,Jayakandan,Sunder,Thamizharasan and Jacob Varun and started investigations.
