New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI) The Election Commission on Monday clarified that it did not revoke the suspension of Karnataka cadre IAS officer Mohammed Mohsin, but asked him to report to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka.

An official from the Commission said that it is factually incorrect that the ECI revoked his suspension but "just that in place of Sambalpur, he is now attached to CEO Karnataka office".

Earlier, a section of media had reported that the the poll body has revoked Mr Mohsin's suspension and transferred him to his home state cadre.

On Saturday the Commission directed that the "the headquarters of the Mohammed Mohsin IAS (KN 1996) will be the office of Chief Electoral officer, Karnataka, in place of Sambalpur, Odisha with immediate effect".

The Karnataka cadre IAS officer was suspended, last week, after he ordered the PM's helicopter to be checked. The incident happened in Sambalpur, where Mr Mohsin was deputed as general observer.

While suspending him, the Commission had stated that Mr Mohsin had “not acted in conformity with the EC’s instructions” that it has exempted SPG protectees like the Prime Minister.
